Marten Blumen's work has appeared in publications including National Geographic Magazine, rock climbing guidebooks and visual effects work for film and television. His work is characterised by great attention to detail, impeccable lighting and richly saturated colours. One of Marty's goals is to inspire people to become passionate about their dreams. He regularly follows this principle as explained here: "I have turned down many business opportunities to follow my instincts. For example in 2002 I was offered work on one of the Harry Potter films but instead I headed to Yosemite Valley in California to rock climb. The photographs I took there were later published and have set me upon the path I am on today."

Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Marty has travelled extensively and currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He is actively involved with the New Zealand Alpine Club in promoting outdoor photography through talks and workshops.
